We transfer celluloid treasures into the digital realm, make them shine in the best possible quality and prepare them for digital distribution. We scan your film material, perform extensive audio and video restoration and convert it to any industry standard format of your liking.
We cater to the DEFA-Stiftung to preserve the national motion picture heritage of Germany, as well as the German Federal Archives.
We do not only treat your film treasures with the greatest expertise and using state-of-the-art technology, we also handle your assets as true film afficionadoes. Regardless of the source format, be it 35mm or 16mm, each film is analysed individually.
Each film reel is examined manually for cracks or other defects dirt or stain. It is then cleanesed using our Arriscan XT Wet Gate with the aid of a special liquid specifically developped by Arri , which enables us to remove any kind of stain without hurting the source material.
After drying follows the actual digitizing process. Telecine is a thing of the past. With its brand new aperture, the gate has enough headroom to allow frames to be stabilized during or after scanning. Severely damaged film can be scanned with ease, as can non-standard film formats with unusually tall frame sizes. ZEISS optical add their expertise to Arri's machines that make lossy digital scaling obsolete.
During scanning, each film is illuminated from below and photographed with 24 frames per second.
Once the film is available as a digital copy it will be further processed in our high-end color grading suite and by our experienced audio engineers. Our award winning subtitling department will be happy to add subtitles in any language or subtitles for the deaf or hard of hearing or even audio descriptions for the visually impaired.
